Lovely. While not as remarkable as the second bank still worth the walk
A pre-cursor to the modern Federal Reserve Bank system, not your corner retail bank drive up with ATM/
Went there for a trip. 10/10 Would visit again for absolutely no reason at all.
The exterior of the building is beautiful and displays such a great piece of history. The detail of the bank was very impressive, even the gate to the side had much detail involved. It’s nearby other historical buildings as well.
The First Bank of the United States is one of my favorite buildings in Philadelphia. Designed by Samuel Blodgett, visiting this building is all about the exterior. The interior is not open to the public nor does it date to the 18th Century. But the front facade is an amazing relic of the days when Philadelphia was the capital of the young nation. The pediment contains one of the earliest representations of the American eagle. Look for he images of Mercury, the God of banking over the front door. This is a great place for wedding and engagement pictures.
