Great experience. The service was remarkable and very timely; they were in and out. Gave me a couple suggestions to hopefully avoid this setback in the future. Best locksmith service in the area, hands down.

I felt compelled to write this review after my experience with this company. On Wednesday after losing my car keys and after doing some googling and comparing prices listed and reviews I chose Phila-Locksmiths as the company I'd call to open my car door. I spoke to the dispatcher who quoted me a range of $85-$150 and when I asked what would cause the price to be $150, was told it depended on the labor involved. I have a Honda Civic, I figured that a locksmith with any skill would be able to open the door without much work and assumed my price would be towards the lower end of the range, probably not $85 but closer to that than $150. I gave them the cross streets my car was parked as it's South Philly and was told about 20 minutes. He was there in a reasonable amount of time.

Technician came quickly and was very efficient in helping me unlock my car during an emergency! Would recommend and call again.

Great job, excellent communication and pricing. Highly recommended! Very quick as well! They helped me replace a Prius key fob for hundreds less than the dealer quoted me.

Needless to say, I was frustrated by the fact that it took so long and cost so much. I waited until the next day to call during business hours to speak to someone who could explain to me how it could possibly cost $130 to unlock a Civic. I spoke to a dispatcher again and explained I'd like to talk to someone about the price, was told I'd have to talk to the technician who had come out because they set the price. I then told her I'd like to speak to someone about how I was unhappy about both the price and the technician. She took my number and told me she'd give the information to someone higher up than her. I checked the reviews online and saw that someone responds to all of the reviews, positive and negative and decided to give them a chance to fix this before writing a review, well it's been 24 hours since I called and I haven't heard back from anyone and I still paid $130 for 5 minutes of work that took 30 minutes.

As soon as the technician got there he quoted me $130 plus the service charge for a total of $145. I asked him why it was so high and what it entailed to make it at the high end of the range. He told me it's what he charges and if it were a Jeep or a truck he'd charge me a different price. I continued to question why it was at the high end and he couldn't give me an answer and just told me he wouldn't charge me the $15 service charge. I needed to get into my car and he didn't seem to understand that I was asking for a bit of a breakdown of the pricing and I assumed he wasn't the one who set the price so I finally agreed to pay it. He wanted me to pay upfront, before he did any work, I explained I'd like to see the work done first.

This was an horrible experience. First of all we had to negotiate the price after scheduling first thing in the am and shouldn't been expected to pay more than the price range given. I also asked was the remote going to be included in that range and I was told yes. The tech calls and says no the key is just include and wanted to charge the same price as the dealer. He comes out 1 hour after scheduled and then takes an hour to be unprofessional..asking personal info and business not relevant to him doing his job. Then he asked me the most dumb question..is this my vehicle after I presented you license and registration with my info on it. Then i had to call Lock 911 (they are the best..took 30 mins and I had my car back up and running)..there reviews are truthful and they deserve their 5 star rating!! However, Philalocksmith or American Best is the worst company..another driver even tried yo come and sell the keys that they couldn't get to work to Lock911...Naw we good...they are a scam and very expensive..

Here's where it gets very interesting, like I said I have a Honda Civic, which I assume is one of the most popular cars on the road, so I also assumed he'd know what he was doing. Well, I was wrong. This should have taken all of 5 minutes and it ended up taking at least 30. All he needed to do was use those air bags to make space in the door to reach the pole in and push the manual lock and bingo, the door would be opened. That's not what happened, he was disappointed that I hadn't just locked my keys in the car but lost them so he couldn't just fish the keys out and open the door that way. With that option out he was able to open the trunk, the gas tank thing, set the alarm off twice, open the center console and tried and failed to open the door by pushing the unlock button or pulling the door handle from the inside. Finally, after I realized he didn't have a clue, I pointed out that he'd need to push the actual lock in to unlock the door, I also had to point out to him what I meant by the locks by explaining they were the triangular things next to the handles. Eventually, after failing to push the lock on the driver's side, he went over to the passenger side, wised up and realized he'd have more control over the pole if he went in the door as close to the lock as possible and after about 30 minutes the door was unlocked.

I just want to give a real review of my experience and just let you know there's no rhyme or reason to the pricing and it's probably going to be on the higher end of what you'd think.
