Just average movie theater with not so friendly staff. Very robotic approach to customer service. Popcorn served in bags instead of containers which was awkward. However, the popcorn was tasty and fresh.
This is a very nice theater where the staff all look formally dressed. They show only certain films but they are of a better quality.
Nice friendly stuff. Place is rather small for big city. No seniors discount on weekends.
It's a rather pleasant movie theater, in historic Society Hill. There are many esoteric films, shown in Philly's three(3) Ritz movie theaters. On occasion,I have seen films here, that I've missed in NYC. Finally, unlike any other place that I know of, they still sell real Buttered Popcorn. I mean, pop corn, that might stain your clothing.
This was the first of a local film theater chain founded by Ramon L. Posel who wanted a nice film house to view independent, foreign, and documentary films in his hometown of Philadelphia. It is located in the "Old City" area, a block from where William Penn's house used to stand. After he passed away, the theater chain, Landmark Theatres bought Posel's theaters (but later sold the Ritz Voorhees in NJ) and continues to show mostly the same genre films, but sometimes books a few "Hollywood films."
