Bring the kids (or kids at heart) and plan on spending a good portion of the day.

I love this place! Went to the IMAX theater to see Star Wars. Great environment to watch a movie. But the Franklin Institute is SO much more than that. One of the best places to take kids of all ages for fun and really enjoyable learning. There is so much to see and it won't be possible to take it all in in one day.

It was an awesome family friendly place for all ages! My 9 yr old son loved trying every single different thing that you could try with your hands! It was upsetting how much it was for just an adult and child to get into the new terracotta warrior exhibit alone. Store shop had many different items for all ages and genders. Overall, a very good first visit!

Fun for the whole family. Limited garage parking on site $9 an hour. Went to see a special exhibit (extra cost), Qing Dynasty, which also featured a fun interactive and informative app. A lot of hands on activity, my kids made paper and we're able to bring their sample home with them. Some of the exhibits are a little worn, but most are functional and offer a fun opportunity to learn. Cafe on site had ample seating and good variety of things to eat, not too expensive.

I was here on a quick day trip and they were hosting the exhibition "Animal Inside Out". I went specifically for that exhibition and was not disappointed. The exhibition was focused on showing the inner workings of different types of animals including squid, dogs, elephant, giraffe. Being a science major, it was very intriguing to see the veins and organs of all these different types of species. Each animal presentation had an accompanying label describing the life of the animal and any unique features. It was a very informative exhibition which I highly enjoyed.

Visited the Franklin Institute specifically for the current special exhibit, and had a great time.

The museum itself is like no other that I've found. It's entirely science based, and has hands-on exhibits on a wide range of topics interesting to young and old alike.
