Believe the reviews. From a customer service perspective, one would think that a smaller retailer would provide stellar service. Unfortunately that is not the case with S&H. We were told that our part would arrive in 1 week. That week, no part-no follow up from the store. We gave it another week; once again no part-follow up, we phoned again the following week, same answer, slightly different details, but certainly the next week it would arrive, guess what?
I assumed this place would be okay since my (cordless electric) lawnmower manufacturer referred me there for a warranty repair. My mistake was not looking at their reviews and asking for - no, DEMANDING - another referral. Both the manufacturer and S&H told me it was a known issue covered by the warranty. When I went to pick it up, they wanted $60 - cash or check only, so you can't dispute the charge - because "the electrical short was caused by dirt in the safety plug socket." Rather than pay the ransom for my mower, I called the manufacturer. Their representative actually laughed when I relayed the story I was given. I have to wonder whether they regularly bill both the company and the customer for the same repair. Fortunately, the manufacturer stands by their products and their warranty, so I was able to walk away knowing a new mower is on its way to my home and that S&H will never get even one cent of my money.
I am handicapped and my wheelchair requires a ramp to enter buildings constructed such as S&H. Unbelievably, S&H does not have a ramp which would have enabled me to enter the store. In the year 2017 it is unbelievable that S&H is not handicapped accessible. They advertise to the general public but never mention the fact that their premises are not accessible to anyone requiring a ramp to enter. Consequently, people such as myself are greatly inconvenienced by having to drive to S&H only to be forced to leave the store and pick another destination.SHAMEFUL!
Took an Axe to get sharpened, the associate said 1 week. I go back 10 days later and was told it was sent away and not back yet. I go back 1 week later and was told ,"definitely in 1 week. I just spoke to them, they have big jobs so your axe was put on the side". Go back in a week and was told " they were backed up and if I knew how the hardware industry was then I would know that you can't put a time limit on work" . Business is business and your word is your word. This business doesn't keep its word and has disgusting, disrespectful and insulting customer service. I would recommend any other business over this one. While standing there, each time, I noticed they treat females like they know nothing and then degrade them when they walk away from the counter.
Avoid S&H.
From a marketing standpoint, we will follow up with the distributor in our case, and ask them to seriously consider their relationship with S&H and how their indisputable reputation could negatively impact the well-heeled distributor's brand equity objectives.
GREEDY THIEVES, Over Eight months I put a $25 dollar deposit down on a defective Greenworks string trimmer that was still under warranty. They said if it's not covered that will go towards the repair. It was covered but I never got a phone call to come pick it up I had to call there in order to see if it was ready. When I picked it up I asked about my $25 and they said that it would be mailed to me four to six weeks YET 8 months go by and they think I forgot about it which I haven't and if I have to take him to small claims court to get my money back then so be it and it'll cost them a lot more. Do yourself a favor and don't ever go inside that place.
