Rittenhouse Hardware has consistently (for years!) had the best customer service of any store I have been to in Philadelphia. I don't know what they do to find their employees, but every single one I have ever interacted with has been knowledgeable, helpful, and generally pleasant. And they get serious bonus points for knowing how to not be over-helpful, too. Also, in spite of the small size, they've had pretty much everything I've ever gone there to look for, and the prices are very reasonable for the prime location. The hours are quite generous, too. I would recommend this place to anyone with hardware needs.
This place is amazing. They have everything you need and a great staff. Been in there a few times and once I was under the credit card minimum so they gave me the item told me to come back later to pay since I live in the neighborhood. Even as I said "I'm sure I need something else from here" to get me over the minimum, they said "don't buy anything you don't need." Makes me want to buy everything I don't need from them. Also it's dog friendly and they have people just stopping by to say hi.
I am self-employed and do odd handyman jobs all over Philadelphia. Any time I have to go to a different hardware store in the city I find myself wishing I had gone to Rittenhouse Hardware. Easily the best I've found in Philly. The staff here are friendly and helpful when it comes to answering questions and finding stock, and they always have what I need. Prices are not just fair, but also competitive. I recommend this store to any and all regardless of experience level.
